Okay the title of this topic is a little misleading, but hopefully it got your attention I'm actually referring to the monthly Judge Dredd title published by IDW, written by Duane Swierczynski and art by Nelson Daniel I just saw the solicitation for issue 4 and was wondering if anyone had read the first issue yet? The description of the issue sounded like it was more in line (style) with older runs on Judge Dredd, but still a solid premise and I quite like Nelson Daniel's art I've seen for Dredd. On a side note I also saw the second issue of Doctor Who: Prisoners of Time solicited and was quite surprised to see the art duties weren't handled by Simon Fraser any more. I thought he was going to draw the entire series

I wasn't aware this was out yet. Nothing about it on the IDW catalogue.

Read it today. Not terrible but not all that great and the artist on the back-up story (Paul Gulacy?) appears to have gone to the Stallone movie for photo reference of the Judges' uniforms. Odd

Ditto. I wasn't happy and am having the same flashbacks that I had with the DC Dredd series.
I hate to say it but I will be surprised if it makes double figures.
Maybe a change of writer and artist can bring in new blood.

Yeah I saw that on Bleeding Cool already about Paul Gulacy using Stallone references. I can't believe he did that, it's both lazy and bad form as far as art is concerned.
Really a shame it's not lighting any fires though, was hoping it would draw in some more readers for 2000AD while at the same time being entertaining in it's own right. Oh well, will see how it goes. Might pick up the first trade when it comes out.

I expected that the uniform would look more like the Dredd 3D movie version if anything, as presumably IDW were hoping for some cross over interest from American comic fans who saw the film but don't read 2000AD (not that there were all that many of them as it happened).
The podcast guys are reviewing it next episode I think
