I've been wanting to read the entire run of Nikolai Dante ever since I started to read the Prog regularly a little over year ago. I've looked on-line for all the trade paperbacks, but find it very hard to figure out where to start. From Wikipedia I found that the Romanov Dynasty is the first volume with ISBN: 1904265200, but according to the description and reviews of that trade on Amazon it's the second volume of the series. There is another trade called the Romanov Dynasty which was published by Hamlyn with ISBN: 0600596397, but that doesn't seem to connect, volume wise with any other Nikolai Dante trades that are out there. If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated

Ignore the Hamlyn books. For the complete series you need the Rebellion trades and there's a list in order on their website (though this isn't necessarily the best place to get them) www.2000adonline.com/books/nikolai-dante-hero-of-the-revolution.phpOne problem is that the fantastic book 3 is long out of print. Thankfully a recent interview with Simon Fraser on ECBT itself has finally confirmed a reprint is on the way. So e patient and don't e tempted to pay the crazy prices it currently goes for unless you really can't wait. Have fun as it really is quite superb.

Its actually the one just before the Tsar Wars which features the story that starts the war itself. Its a really fantastic story and as Simon Fraser himself said in some ways is the first volume that sees Dante at its absolute peak. Not that what went before it was in any way bad!

Thanks for all the advice Colinynwa, I hadn't even thought of looking on the 2000AD website (d'oh). I'm still not sure what to do though, if they do reprint them all, they might do them like the case-files as well, in which case I'd love to just get them all in that format. But on the other hand I don't want to wait that long just on the off-chance they do reprint them like that. I did have a look on-line for the third trade though, and I've not even found anywhere that still sells it, let alone for a decent price. So guess I'll have to wait for any kind of reprint at the moment

Mobius/ At the moment there are 3 editions of the first Dante book ( Volume 1 ) The Hamlyn Adventures of Nikolai Dante book , which is the largest format and the best printed of all of them. Unfortunately it only features my art , so Henry Flints Gulag Apocalyptic isn't included , which is kind of an important story for later ( and looks great ). The first Rebellion/DC edition is the 'Romanov Dynasty' which is horribly printed and badly designed. This still exists in the retail chain , but I'd avoid it. The newest and best edition of this material is Nikolai Dante 'Too Cool To Kill' which came out last year. I recommend that.
Volume 2 'The Great Game ' is still readily available in the original purple spined Rebellion/DC edition. I'm told that eventually there will be a new version of this book and book 3'The Courtship of Jena Makarov' ...eventually. If there is a Deluxe edition on the way then it is quite a way off, years maybe . Though it is being considered. I know no more than that at this time. Enjoy.

Wow, cool to see you on here sir, I'm a huge fan.
I only discovered your work about a year ago when I started reading 2000AD (having moved to the UK), and have been tracking down everything you've done so far. Of course the main body of work you've done is on the Nikolai Dante series, so will definitely be picking it up.
Thanks for the reply and clearing things up a little. I think I'll just start collecting from where you said and see where it takes me. Hopefully they will do the reprints sooner rather then later though, especially now that the sage is complete.
I'm also really looking forward to the Dr Who series from IDW you're doing.
Sorry for gushing like an idiot, just very cool to have gotten a reply from you.

There is an interview with Matt Smith up on CBR www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=42467And one of the questions asked is regarding Nikolai Dante reprints. Not sure I'm that happy with the answer, but do understand though. Hope the reprint will still happen at some point.
