Yeah it was fantastic wasn't it.
Mind for all that story for story I still think Brass Sun is the best thing in it, its that good. Overall the 'big reveal' is but as I say if you look at the individual stories its absolutely brilliant.

Really cant get my head around Brass Sun. Am trying but it just seems to be drifting along and I've kinda lost interest. Art isn't really floating my boat either
To get totally nerdy it's a bit too Star Trek : The Motion Picture and I prefer stuff a bit more Wrath of Khan
Low Life is definitely the "on fire" one for me at the moment.

I quite like how Brass Sun is totally different from the other four strips (easy now, don't say "yeah cos it's no good"!). I'm liking it. Some of the imagery, the double page views of the universe for example, is gorgeous.

Amazing how this was done - has it been done before elsewhere?

Apart from Judgement Day being in the Prog and Meg but still both Dredd strips, I think I have only seen it done with US comics.
I remember back when I was reading Daredevil and picked up one of the annuals it was part of the Atlantis Attacks arc which spanned several big name annuals including Spiderman, Punisher and X Men. The Daredevil one picked right up from Spiderman, which was quite clever.

OK... mini rant brought on by all the "ITS THE GREATEST ISSUE EVER!" stuff I've seen
2000AD is an anthology. Calling an issue where 2/3 of it is all the same story is like saying your favourite ever football game was one where they all played badminton instead.
Yeah, it was cool. It was hardly genius though. Superhero comics tie in all the time and people call it crap. Dont see how this was any different other than the fact it was unexpected.
Will be glad when this arc is done as while Dredd and Low Life are on fire at the moment having 3/5 of the prog Dredd is making it too much like the Meg

Will be glad when this arc is done as while Dredd and Low Life are on fire at the moment having 3/5 of the prog Dredd is making it too much like the Meg Go on I'll take that one. Firstly as you say it was unexpected and genuninely something new in 2000ad so that gets it points. Its not like 2000ad has ever done this before so its not like it tied as it is elsewhere. Second its all there in the same package so you have no motive to explore elsewhere. Its not a grab for readership... which leds to three... ...which is it was done perfectly in story. Each story still read fine on its own, in fact some people went as far as not noticing! It all worked so well. Four also bounces off the above to. Not marketing, no push it was a genunine surprise done to delight the fans. In this day and age of the internet and spoilers that is so truly wonderful. Five you still had the brilliant ABC Warriors and Brass Sun (it is I promise!) so it still a great mix. Just a bit like having an double sized story in the prog (okay triple) which has happened a lot. The defense rest your honour.

But it made me HAVE to read Simping Detective and I cant stand it!! Like I said tho, I thought it was cool at the time. Its the "this was the greatest 2000AD ever" tweets etc that seem a bit much

I agree with Rich on this one, albeit for a different slant. Dredd, Low Life and Brass Sun- all superb. All firing brilliantly. ABC Warriors is passable and this was arguably the best episode of it. That's not saying much as I recently endured Twilight: Breaking Dawn Pt 1 and though I didn't suffer a rectal prolapse by the end it doesn't mean the whole series is anything other than stark justification for the multiple homicide of all involved. The Simping Detective was also passable as a linked story and not on its own merit as creative genius. Because, it isn't.
So, I'd give the Prog 3.5/5. It is not the best Prog ever as that was clearly Prog 650.
