So I'm a HUGE fan of the original trilogy. Given the option I'd have had an Evil Dead 4 giving Ash a swansong, but they've gone for a remake/reboot instead.
Gotta admit, I'm pretty impressed. Looks like they aren't going to try and match the originals manic comedy or even have someone try and emulate the awesomeness of Bruce Campbell. Instead they've taken the premise and gone nasty with it.
This actually looks like how I imagined the first one would before I saw it. I couldn't quite get how everyone was saying it was the top of the video nasties. Couldn't they SEE all the dark comedy in it? Yeah, it's not as in your face as in 2 or 3 but the first movie was still purposefully funny in parts.
Anyway, looks cool. I now eagerly await the outrage as the movie is seen to incite tree on girl crime.

You know, I was never a massive fan of Evil Dead. Maybe I just didn't get it at the time but Evil Dead 2 (practically a remake anyway) was fucking brilliant.
So, I'll give this a look when it shows up

The first Evil Dead movie wasn't meant to be a comedy. Huge fan of the originals but this one doesn't do anything for me. It's a bit cliched and won't stand out from the rest of the schlock out there. Wish they would have went the dark comedy route and given us another hilarious 'Ash'...even a female 'Chosen One'.
