Watched it last night. Fun film. Not the most deep movie in the world but having read a load of the new Dark Horse Conan comics I wouldn't say it was too far removed from the source.
Cool fights, lots of OTT violence, the female lead is hooootttt and I've been assured that if your preferences swing that way then Conan himself gives good eye candy. Picked up the blu-ray as it was only £8 so for that I'd say it was well worth it. Especially liked the beginning showing Conan as a kid with Ron Perlman as his dad. My only complaint would be that the end felt a little weak. There's this mask the big bad has been after for 20 odd years and when he gets it you're built up to think he's gonna be seriously powered up but I couldnt really see that it made any difference.
Still, like I said, entertaining enough Saturday night movie and it all looks really nice and... Conan-y

Yeah, Conan seems closer to the original Robert E. Howard vision as a man who seems part human and part panther (but not in a Manimal way) being quick, smart, athletic and fearless. Unlike the Arnie version who was like a tank with a sword.
Rachel Nichols was smoking hot in that film.
I'm still fond of the original 80s movie, though. Great sets (actual ones not CGI), heads coming off, a camel being sparked out and superb music. In fact, it could only get better with this...
