Had the original of this on the Playstation (back before it was a PS1) and played THE HELL out of it. Pretty sure its the game I've sunk the most time into by a long margin and that includes Final Fantasy 7 and the ongoing DC Univers Online grindfest.
Actually appealed to me originally due to my loving Rebelstar Raiders on the spectrum and this seemed like a sucessor to it's turn based alien shoot-fest.
Am determined to finish Darksiders2 before I start this as I'm really shit at leaving longer games 3/4 finished then going back months later and starting again. That said it's gonna take some willpower as this looks fucking stunning... well, if you're a fan of the original anyway

Ditto for the PS1 version and the amount of misuse I got out of this game was immense. Firing squads, mind controlled suicide bombers and levelling terror sites.

Totally caved and started it.
ITS FUCKING AMAZING!
Its the same game as the original, they havent changed it all and spoiled it, its the same turn based aweseomeness but with a much more cinematic feel. You still give your orders as before but you then see quite a lot of it from a ground level POV rather than all top down. Makes you even more involved and like the first one, when one of your squad is taken down you really feel it. Just brilliant.

Right. That settles it. I have to get this for Crimbo. Can you still rename your squad? If so, I'm naming my first lot after One Direction and marching them to death by anal probing.

Yup, rename and even tweak their appearance. You can even name the interceptors... all mine are called The General Lee at the moment
My badass sniper just died on a mission. I'm SO gutted. But weirdly even though I could go back a save game and get him back by only losing an hour it feels wrong. He went down fighting, I dont wanna cheapen it
And yeah, know how fucking sad that sounds. Just loving it too much!

Nice. In the original I lost my top guy to a Cyberdisc again and again. No matter how many times I reloaded the bastard (which took an age on the PS1) he kept on dying as his armour just wasn't good enough. In the end I had to accept that he was lost and move on. It was hard but I dulled the pain by having my psionics mind control the alien cyberdiscs into shooting themselves.
I also named a base after him in the Antarctic that I purposely let the aliens attack so that I could fuck them up good and proper. It was laid out in single file and just became a shooting gallery once my guys got their aim in.
